Art opens up fresh perspectives on the past and present
Whether it’s the history of Bauhaus, the potential of upcycling (Pure Gold), Europe’s socio-political situation through the eyes of Southeast/Eastern Europe (EVROVIZION), or an examination of the conditions and power of AI (Dreaming Beyond AI) – the exhibitions that have been travelling around the world for decades and the more recent digital and co-creative formats all promote diversity in art and culture.
The art projects focus on important socio-political issues with a global outlook: How can art reflect people’s different lives and situations? And how can the existing structures of global exhibitions be rethought to open up new avenues for artistic and curatorial processes?
The ifa art collection: A treasure trove for art lovers
ifa's art collection currently comprises some 24,000 works from a variety of disciplines of modern and contemporary fine art. Architecture, photography and design are all represented, along with monographic exhibitions by Rosemarie Trockel and Wolfgang Tillmans. Around half the collection is made up of works acquired for the touring exhibitions. The other half comes from the GDR Centre for Art Exhibitions, which ifa took over in 1991. The ifa Agora, our online art platform, makes ifa's unique art collection accessible to all.
