Pool Malebo. Mukenge/Schellhammer – Catalogue Presentation, Reading and Discussion

On the occasion of the presentation of the catalogue "Pool Malebo. Mukenge/Schellhammer" Fiston Mwanza Mujila (*1981, Lubumbashi) reads from his shortstory "Dance of the Devils": at the border area between Angola and the Congo, in the mines of Lunda Norte and in the center of Lubumbashi, women without age, diamond prospectors, crooks and agents from all over the world dance the dance of the devils. In addition to absurd dialogues, a plethora of narrative threads and digressions, it is above all the music that sets the rhythm of the narrative. In 2021, Fiston Mwanza Mujila was awarded the Prix Les Afriques for Dance of the Devils.

For the exhibition's catalogue "Pool Malebo. Mukenge/Schellhammer", Fiston Mwanza Mujila wrote the text "Une autre histoire de la vie et de la mort". He forms an artistic voice within the catalogue, which brings together several booklets that were created during and on the occasion of the exhibition. The catalogue, which will be presented on this evening, documents and expands the exhibition by the artists Lydia Schellhammer and Christ Mukenge. The exhibition was shown at the ifa Gallery Stuttgart from 11.3. - 1.5.2022.
