The exhibition sheds light on all creative phases of the Berlin photographer and photography teacher Arno Fischer (1927-2011). The starting point is the early work 'Situation Berlin', in which Fischer focused on the four-sector city. With the construction of the wall in 1961, a planned publication of the series was prohibited. In the works for the East German magazine 'Sibylle' and legendary portraits of Marlene Dietrich and other personalities, Fischer shows his qualities as a fashion and people photographer. Pictures of trips through the GDR, India, Africa and New York are another focus of the exhibition. The last part shows Polaroid photos from the artist's garden, his refuge in Gransee near Berlin. He arranged these still lifes and detail shots in groups, which enhances the effect and strength of the statement. His black-and-white images continue to be style-defining for generations of photographers.

The ifa Agora is the digital platform for the art holdings and touring exhibitions of the ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen.
With over 20 touring exhibitions currently travelling across the globe and with its diverse event programmes on contemporary art, the ifa links the German art scene with internationally active cultural creators and forms cooperations and networks. The projects, many of which were developed in co-creation with local partners, cover the various disciplines of modern and contemporary fine arts – from current themes in architecture, photography and design to Bauhaus and monographic exhibitions such as Rosemarie Trockel or Wolfgang Tillmans.
