Education and Training
State accredited art academies offer artistic training that is recognized worldwide. New doctoral programmes for artists have helped to establish the field of artistic research. Artistic approaches to knowledge production are thus generated in close cooperation with the restructuring of European universities and greater standardization of degrees and qualifications gained.
There are just under 30 state accredited art universities and academies in Germany, offering a great variety of study programmes. Usually admission requirements include a portfolio of work samples, with further requirements that differ from institution to institution.
