EVROVIZION – Sofia

CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES

3 Feb 2026  -  28 Feb 2026
Doza Gallery
52 Tsar Samuil St.
1000 Sofia

Curated by Sabina Klemm and Sanja Kojić Mladenov, the exhibition explores contemporary artistic practices and the idea of European identity. EVROVIZION is a project by ifa-Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen and is presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Bulgaria and Doza Gallery in Sofia.

The exhibition title EVROVIZION is a construct made of similar and yet still different languages – Eurovisione / Evrovizija / Евровизия – a fusion of potential unities; a free version of potential togetherness. The aim is to reflect on contemporary social and political challenges, and to make specific local impulses visible in order to generate the continuous and flowing development of dialogue spaces. In close cooperation with regional protagonists and each local art scene, new artistic projects will be added to the exhibition during the course of its tour.

Following presentations in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Novi Sad (Serbia), Athens (Greece), Nicosia (Cyprus), Tbilisi (Georgia), and Varna (Bulgaria), selected works will also be shown in Sofia. The project was expanded with works by Bulgarian artist Geryi Georgieva after the exhibition at the Varna City Art Gallery in May 2025. In addition, Adnan Softić and Ivana Ivković, in close collaboration with local participants in Varna, created new works that will be presented for the first time in Sofia.
Artists Lana Čmajčanin, Gery Georgieva, Ivana Ivković, Adnan Softić, and curator Sanja Kojić Mladenov will attend the opening at Doza Gallery. The exhibition will open with a new performance by Ivana Ivković.

After the exhibition, a new issue of EVROVIZION magazine will be published, further enriching the archive of the traveling exhibition.
