Since 2021, the publication series 'Culture and Foreign Policy', founded by the ifa and the publisher Nomos Verlag, features dissertations, scholarly studies and collections of articles that examine issues at the interface between culture and foreign policy.
In addition to public diplomacy, soft power, nation branding and the promotion of democracy, the research areas include topics such as post-national cultural policy, international educational and scholarly relationships, and language and media policy. Further focal points of the publications include the future of multilateral cooperation, civil society dialogue, nationalism and conflict prevention.
The aim of the series is to make visible the thematic range of foreign cultural and educational policy and the different research approaches in the participating disciplines. The series thematically ties in with the handbook of the same name, whose third edition was published in 2015 by Nomos Verlag and which is the fundamental work for foreign cultural and educational policy.
The call for papers is aimed at researchers with an interest in publishing their work in areas of foreign cultural and educational policy in the series.
Submitted works should not be more than two years old and should not have been previously published by any other publisher. Submissions in both German and English are accepted. The basic requirement for the publication of a dissertation is the attainment of an evaluation of at least magna cum laude.
Those interested in publishing in the series are asked to send their manuscript as a Word file, along with all related images in a resolution of at least 300 dpi, to Carsten Rehbein at rehbein(at)nomos.de.
