The West and the Muslim World

A Muslim Position

Relations between the Muslim world and Western countries are marked by prejudice, terrorism and war. What are the causes of these problems? How can dialogue between Western and Islamic societies be made effective and fruitful in the face of this complicated and often conflict-ridden relationship? How can it include the multitude of contradictory actors and positions on both sides and avoid stereotyping? How can a culture of listening be developed? How can the fears, reservations and blockages of the respective opposing sides be addressed without reservation? How can the politics and power relations of both sides be taken into account and addressed?
