Exhibition Preview

Sara Ouhaddou (born 1984 in France, lives and works in Morocco and France) explores in her artistic practice the relationships between artisans and artists. In her solo exhibition Display at the ifa Gallery Berlin, she explores how art and craft intertwine and blur the boundaries of classic 'commissioning'. In doing so, she also addresses the effects of tourism on arts and crafts and the object as a commodity.  Based on many years of experience working with craftspeople in the medina of Marrakech, she defines three types of collaboration:

1. the artist commissions a piece

2. the artwork is an object based on joint discussions

3. artisans commission an exhibit from the artist

Unique Moroccan crafts such as ceramics, embroidery, glass design and jewellery were included in their diversity, commissioned or jointly produced. durinh

The exhibition was created in cooperation with MACAAL Marrakech and the ifa Gallery berlin and will open on the occasion of Berlin Art Week 2024.
