About the scholarship
For the first time, starting 2019, ifa will offer funding for transnational networking between organisations in Germany and organisations from participating countries of the CrossCulture Programme. With “CCP Synergy”, ifa enables work-related short stays for employees of two civil society organisations with the aim to establish a long-term cooperation.
Presumably spring 2020
The subject of the exchange may be the development and expansion of joint cooperation, for example, in the form of projects, publications or events. The programme encourages direct exchange between organisations and helps to integrate civil society across borders. In doing so, mutual support and the development of long-term cooperation are in the foreground.

Key topics 2019: civic education and digital civil society
For the participating organisations from the fields of civic education and digital civil society, ifa is planning a specialist event in Berlin. Also, in autumn of 2019 an exchange with all of the interested organisations is supposed to take place in order to share their experiences with “CCP Synergy”.
Structure and procedure
Through “CCP Synergy”, organisations receive the means and opportunity to network and explore possible collaborations. Two organisations can apply together with one application: one based in Germany, the other from one of the above-mentioned participating countries. It is not necessary to have years of joint project experience together. Organisations currently in the process of establishing contacts or initiating joint projects are invited to apply for “CCP Synergy”. The funds made available can either be used for a mutual brief visit or for a longer stay at one of the two organisations. The exchange can be between seven and 30 days.
A maximum of 3.000 euros will be offered by ifa to the selected organisation partnerships as part of the “CCP Synergy” Scholarship for the following items:
• Travel expenses (Only 2nd class train tickets and flights booked in economy class will be reimbursed.)
• Meals according to valid daily rates (The daily rate in Germany is 24 euros.)
• Health insurance
• Expenditure allowance as needed, which can be shared between both organisation
The participating organisations are responsible for planning their own trips.
ifa will support participating organisations abroad in obtaining visas for stays in Germany and is available to answer further questions.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Can CCP alumni apply for “CCP Synergy”?
No, not as an individual. “CCP Synergy” is designed for organisations. CCP alumni are cordially invited to apply with their home organisation and a cooperation partner in Germany.
Can organisations apply that were not previously involved in CCP?
Yes. The application is open to all organisations that already know a cooperation partner, are active in the mentioned fields and are based in the CrossCulture Programme countries.
How exactly should the financial plan be presented when applying?
The financial plan is an initial estimate of the necessary funds. These are anticipated and estimated costs. Billing of the actual costs incurred will follow at the end of the stay. Please keep in mind that ifa can fund a maximum amount of 3.000 euros.
Is it possible to receive more than the total amount of 3.000 euros?
In justified exceptional cases, a deviation from this amount is conceivable.
How many people can participate in the exchange?
The number of travellers is contingent on the total amount of 3,000 euros.
Is there an age limit for the participants of each organisation?
No. For “CCP Synergy” no age limit is set for the participants travelling.
What happens after the application deadline?
The applications will be reviewed after the application deadline as soon as possible. In the selection phase, we reserve the right to clarify any queries by phone. Selection interviews are not foreseen. The applicants can expect a response from ifa in June. In the case of acceptance, a funding agreement will be concluded between the two organisations and ifa.
