CrossCulture Programme part of the "German Week in Upper Egypt"

In late November, the event series "German Week in Upper Egypt" offered the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the bilateral relations. More than 10 German organisations and other NGOs were representing the German-Egyptian cooperation in various fields. CCP Plus coordinator Lena Fritsche and Country Representative Elham Khattab attended the event and visited Luxor, Qena, Sohag and Minya.

"This trip really made me see the real talents that we have in Egypt who need a chance. I hope that we were able to make those chances visible." This is the way Elham Khattab, CCP Country Representative in Egypt, described her impressions of the "German Week in Upper Egypt", organized by the German Embassy in Cairo.

Germany and Egypt are connected through a long history of cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and economy. The "German Week in Upper Egypt" puts Egyptian civil society actors and German intermediary organisations in contact. Between 19th and 22nd of November 2016 most different events took place in four historical cities along the Nile: Luxor, Qena, Sohag and Minya. The hospitality was overwhelming.

Interested Egyptians obtain information from Lena Fritsche about Germany and the ifa.

ifa, represented by Elham Khattab and Lena Fritsche, CCP Plus coordinator, was part of the daily "market of opportunities" where Egyptians visitors and German institutions got in touch and were able to build new networks. The event was a great opportunity to reach possible partners in areas other than the capital Cairo. Some of the visitors spoke perfectly German without ever having been to Germany. One student of  German studies said: "We were looking forward to this event for weeks. Finally you are here in Qena, this is the highlight of the year".
