Staying Connected

The ifa supports the sustainable networking of the CrossCulture Community, which consists of over 1,100 alums, and civil society organisations. Through training courses, workshops, regular alums meetings, and the Civil Society Platform, our digital networking-space, we support alums in their professional growth and strengthen collaborations and networks. The programme also offers journalistic training courses that support alums in journalistically preparing perspectives from their countries and specialist areas and sharing them with media companies in Germany and abroad, NGOs, foundations or ifa's own SHARE magazine. To enhance local engagement, CCP appoints volunteer Country Representatives, who serve as key contacts for alums, prospective participants, German embassies, and ifa in their respective countries.

Gif for the anniversary of the CrossCulture Programme.

Twenty years ago, in 2005, the CrossCulture Programme was founded with a powerful vision: to build bridges across cultures and strengthen civil society networks. With over 1,100 alums from across the globe, a vibrant and diverse community has emerged, united by a shared commitment to create positive change. The programme would not have become what it is without the contributions of our community.

Networking Through Country Representatives

Looking for local networking? Our Country Representatives are here to help! Working on a voluntary basis, Country Representatives serve as key contacts in their respective countries for alums, fellows, ifa, and German embassies. CCP Fellowship alums and fellows can apply for this position and be appointed for a three-year term. They organise activities such as events and workshops for alums and fellows, with financial support from CCP. The picture gallery below showcases inspiring examples of their initiatives.

The next call for Country Representatives will be open in 2026.

Training Courses & Workshops

CCP offers fellows and alums specialist events and workshops on the programme’s priorities. In 2024, for example, an event was held in Munich on the topic of “Circular Solutions” (click here for the event report). Our workshops are geared towards the needs of the community, with a particular focus on co-creation, for example in the “By Alums for Alums” series in which Alums share their expertise in online workshops. SHARE offers journalism training courses in which alums can deepen their journalistic skills. Many of the results are published in the community magazine SHARE.

The Civil Society Platform and SHARE Magazine are also available to alumni of other ifa funding programmes.
