Concepts such as re-design and ready-made play a central role in the exhibition ‘new olds’. It is about the traditional processing of new materials, but also about the transformation of design classics. 60 exhibits throw light on the tension between tradition and innovation in the current design. The special feature: the topic is illuminated from an international perspective.
45 designers and designer teams from Germany, other parts of Europe and the USA are represented in the exhibition. In addition, local designers will present their works on the theme of new and old at the respective exhibition venues. The exhibition thus fosters a lively international discourse.

With its diverse exhibition and event programmes on contemporary art, the ifa links the German art scene with internationally active cultural creators and forms cooperations and networks. The projects, which are often developed in co-creation, generate local meeting platforms, allow international perspectives on topics of global relevance and provide well-stocked repositories of information. The ifa also provides loan exhibits to interested museums.
