Fashion is a creative act that tells the world who we are – what we wear reveals our intimate relationship to body, time and territory.
Diaspora Wonderland understands fashion as a cultural seismograph that reflects and anticipates changes in identity, gender, sensuality, heritage and imagination. Bringing together artists and designers working across textile, sound, photography and sculptural garments, the exhibition reveals fashion as a space of transmission and narratives. It highlights diasporic experiences and identities as constitutive forces of new "wonderlands" shaped by movement and collective memory. The circulation of craftsmanship, aesthetics and knowledge within diasporic communities becomes visible, while at the same time promoting exchange with Berlin’s local fashion scene and creative industry.

The ifa Galleries in Stuttgart and Berlin present contemporary art from a global point of view. The work of the ifa Galleries is based on seeing the world from a diversity and plurality of perspectives, discovering new stories, and shaping emancipatory processes, interactions, and artistic spaces. Our focus is on long-term relationships with artists, partners, and visitors, and our exhibitions and education programmes are developed through practices of collaboration that trace global entanglements and piece them together in new forms of narrative.
