Creating networks and living solidarity
How can one live solidarity in capitalist, postcolonial, discriminatory and sexist societies? How can one find each other and create networks despite unequally distributed privileges? How can our protests be linked? These are the questions the four curators posed to the 16 invited women artists and two collectives from Chile and Germany. "Rebeldes" brings together their artistic positions, perspectives and forms of protest in one exhibition.
The artists' and curators' points of criticism and approaches are as diverse as their backgrounds. But they are united by the desire to criticise patriarchal power relations and to make visible issues that otherwise remain hidden. They are all rebellious in their own way, which connects them across generations, cultures and individual experiences of discrimination. This project shows the resulting relationships - and promotes them at the same time.
Experimental space and platform for dialogue
"Rebeldes" is not only an exhibition, but at the same time an experimental space and platform for dialogue, mutual inspiration and joint action. Some of the works and performances have been and are still being created in collective processes. And visitors are also invited to participate in workshops and discussions and to intervene in the exhibition itself.
