documenta fifteen

From 18 June to 25 September 2022, documenta fifteen will take place at various locations in Kassel under the artistic direction of ruangrupa. The collective from Jakarta has based the fifteenth edition of documenta on the values and ideas of lumbung, the Indonesian term for a communal rice barn. As an artistic and economic model, lumbung is based on principles such as collectivity, communal resource building and equitable distribution, and is realised in all areas of collaboration and exhibition conception.

lumbung will be the collaborative practice of ruangrupa and the artistic team, lumbung members and lumbung artists and all participants on the way to documenta fifteen in 2022 and beyond.

In addition, two fellows are supported by the CrossCulture Programme:

Erwin Windu Pranata is an artist, performer and musician from Bandung, Indonesia. He is part of the free art collective and centre Omnispace and Gudskul Collective Studies.
Kanaiym Kydyralieva is involved in the young artist collective Bishkek School of Contemporary Art (BiSCA), which aims to provide an online and offline platform for contemporary art forms and exchange in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.
