All over the world, forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Just 20 years ago, more than a third of the planet was covered by forests. And today? Only a quarter of the land mass is still covered by forest. This immense loss threatens the economic and ecological foundations at local, regional and global level. How will this development affect life, the future, survival?

The exhibition Amada Verde shows a selection of artists who were part of the international residency programme LABVERDE in Brazil. LABVERDE aims to expand the boundaries of 'classical' art by having participants take part in an intensive programme with scientists and local people directly in the Amazon rainforest, thus gaining a broad spectrum of experience, knowledge and cultural experience between art, science and nature. The works developed on environmental themes and the experiences in the Amazon rainforest will be presented in the Haus am Lützowplatz

All the artists deal with similar ideas and views on nature, sustainability and the future of the planet, but approach the subject from different angles, thus creating a dense and lush 'jungle' of artworks. From humorous approaches and performative works to poetic artistic representations of decay and the ever-repeating cycle of life, the exhibition invites the visitor:inside to enter the Amazon rainforest, the sounds, the smells.

Video performance
As part of the opening, the video performance 'Açaí – Live Longer, Stronger, Better' by the artist Milda Lembertaité will take place in the courtyard garden of the Haus am Lützowplatz. The performance is an adaptation of a 2-channel video performance created in 2019 in collaboration with Amelia Prazak.
