Totally Glocally | Stuttgart Talks

'In the 19th century, the world was Europeanised. In the 20th century, it was Americanised. Now, in the 21st century, the world is being irreversibly Asianised.' So the provocative future scenario of the Indian political scientist Parag Khanna. Today, Asian countries occupy leading positions in the global economy and are becoming ever more politically relevant. Nearly half of the global middle class now lives in Asia, and experts predict that in the long run, Europe will fall behind in the race to keep up because of demographic developments. Most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has also exposed new challenges in the context of global power shifts in Germany and Europe. What role will Asia play in the future world order? Where does Europe stand in the context of global developments? Can Asia's growth contribute to greater global justice? What contribution can cultural policy make to strengthen relations and cultural understanding with Asia?
