"Archival Agencies between Survival and Loss, Discovery and Disappointment"
What does it mean for an archive to survive? And to not only survive but to live and to continue living? How can archival discoveries be communicated to a wider audience? Dr Cornelia Lund is an art, film and media scholar and curator living in Berlin. Since 2004, she has been co-director of "fluctuating images", a non-commercial and independent platform for the presentation of and reflection on art, design and music.

"Survival in the Archive"
A presentation that reflects on the notion of survival in relation to archives of African art. Regis Hitimana will explore how artworks, stories, and memories persist in institutional collections, sometimes in tension with processes of forgetting, misrepresentation, or silencing. Drawing on his experience with IwalewaHaus archives and the interactions with guests researchers and students of african arts; he will touch on questions of custodianship, ethics, and the living presence of artworks beyond their material preservation. The archive perceived not only as a repository but also as a fragile ecosystem where survival is negotiated.

"(Un)Boxing Archives – about Finding, Appreciating, and Connecting Hidden Memories and Objects"
This lecture and discussion invites participants to explore the idea of a living archive and discover the structures that support such an archive. How can we find hidden memories and objects, connect them with each other, and create new approaches? Why should we want to do this, and how does the process of (un)boxing help us gain insight?
Under the patronage of UNESCO. This exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
