Never Again Peace
The 58th edition of steirischer herbst refers to the festival’s antifascist origins and centers around the satirical stage play "No More Peace" (1934–1936) by German-Jewish writer Ernst Toller. In this play, Napoleon and Francis of Assisi debate on Mount Olympus whether humanity tends more toward war or peace. Their discussion culminates in a mysterious declaration of war against the fictional country of Dunkelstein, prompting the population to recall a supposed "hereditary enemy" and turn against outsiders.

The English title "No More Peace" is commonly used for the play, but it does not fully convey the urgency and reversal of the well-known interwar slogan "Nie wieder Krieg" ("Never again war"). The phrase "Nie wieder" ("Never again") was also used by survivors of the Buchenwald concentration camp after their liberation in 1945 as a powerful warning.

The exhibition "Never Again Peace" invites visitors to the former Bauer distillery to explore diverse perspectives on social division and cultures of remembrance.
