PD Dr Jan-Hinrik Schmidt

has been Senior Postdoc Digital Interactive Media and Political Communication at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research │ Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI) since November 2007. His current work focuses on the developments of Web 2.0 and social media. He is particularly interested in the changes of information circulation and opinion formation, the transformation of science communication as well as the practices and structures regulating digital communication.

Dr Nomsa Masuku

is an academic and a champion of civic and democracy education. She joined the Electoral Commission as a Commissioner in November 2018. Previously she was the Electoral Commission's Deputy Chief Electoral Officer responsible for Outreach, for a period of six years. Before that Dr Masuku headed Standard Bank's Corporate Social Investment Unit for seven years. In the latter role, she focused her energies on harnessing the Bank's resources to reach markets that are not easily reached through traditional banking methodologies.

Nomshado Lubisi

is Head of Communications at Media Monitoring Africa. She was recently appointed as a member of the South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF). She has led and implemented strategic communications initiatives for various campaigns and works on projects in digital literacy, media policy, and media research. She has spearheaded dialogues seeking to address critical issues around communications and media. She has experience in marketing, digital media, public relations, training and strategic communications. Nomshado has key interests in digital media, youth development, gender and media research. She is passionate about working towards narrowing the digital divide and advocates for combatting mis/disinformation.
