Shadowily in Different Tongues - Tzoneco I. A world-space exploration of the mountain Matlalcueyetl

The Nahuatl Collective Tequiocalco/Arte a 360 Grados invites you to Tzoneco I – a journey through time and space to the territory of the Matlalcueyetl. This volcano, which is closely linked to the local community, bears ancient knowledge and stands for the forces of life. Poems in Nahuatl, English, and German, sound interventions, and a performance together create a new cartography of the region that discloses the threats of extractivism to this lived-in environment and at the same time envisions new forms of cohabitation and connection for the future through the regeneration of language and colonized knowledge. After the show there will be an opportunity to meet and talk to the artists.

Registration is requested by 15.5.2025 at ifa-galerie-stuttgart(at)ifa.de

ifa Galleries

The ifa Galleries in Stuttgart and Berlin present contemporary art from a global point of view. The work of the ifa Galleries is based on seeing the world from a diversity and plurality of perspectives, discovering new stories, and shaping emancipatory processes, interactions, and artistic spaces. Our focus is on long-term relationships with artists, partners, and visitors, and our exhibitions and education programmes are developed through practices of collaboration that trace global entanglements and piece them together in new forms of narrative.
