Performative Workshop with Gabriel Rossell Santillán

Xaye, Maxa, Hari: constituido de lenguas muslos y manos

In this workshop the artist Gabriel Rossell Santillán engages with the participants in a performative exchange about his work with the Wixárika community in Mexico, with whom he has been working for many years at the interface of documentation, art and knowledge production. Using the text fragments, picture archives and excerpts from the video material that were produced in a long-term collaborative project with the Wixárika, and which are part of the 'El rincón de las semillas' library, workshop participants will together generate the pieces of a manifold and multi-level palimpsest. This process will gradually inscribe knowledge, struggles and history and stories that the artist experienced with the Wixárika onto the bodies of those attending, so that they become part of the installation in the exhibition gallery.
