Lecture Programme of the German Federal Government

Which actors, alliances and organisations will emerge strengthened from this crisis and which diminished? Will the social and political divisions between countries widen or be bridged? Where will the global wave of protests that marked the end of 2019 lead? Will the fight against COVID-19 unite or further divide the international community?

The event will also launch the 30th edition of the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) International Yearbook which reviews the shifts in international relations over the past three decades and features Germany as its country profile. But it also analyses COVID-19’s impact on the future of democracy, the economy, power balances and the rivalry between international powers.

Introduction: Bruno Tertrais, Deputy Director of the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS)

Discussion: Christian Kastrop, State Secretary for Digital Society and Consumer Protection at the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection
Jana Puglierin, Head of European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) Berlin
Moderator: Pol Morillas, Director of CIDOB

The conference will be streamed live in English and in Spanish at CIDOB’s Youtube channel and is a cooperation event between CIDOB, the Consulate General of Germany in Barcelona.
