The Talk-Talk-Violin pavilion at the 2018 Bangkok Biennial is hosting a symposium entitled "Biennialization, Biennialization, Biennialization: The Bangkok Syndrome" on 11 and 12 August. The two-day symposium will focus on current and historical trends in the increasingly ubiquitous biennial format.

Artists, critics, curators, researchers, academics and other practitioners are invited to contribute ideas of what a biennial is, has been or could be. Submissions are being accepted until 22 June. Abstracts and articles as both presentations and/or written works can be submitted. Selected submissions will be featured as part of the symposium and selected written works will be incorporated in a publication released by the Bangkok Biennial.

This symposium exists in the context of Thailand where three separate large-scale bi-annual exhibitions are to be inaugurated this year: the Bangkok Biennial, the Bangkok Art Biennale and the Thailand Biennale. In addition, the importance of biennials at the international level has grown in recent years.
