On 9 and 10 July, around 100 participants from 15 Member States and 9 partner countries – Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia – are gathering in Brussels for the 4th policy dialogue on higher education with Southern Mediterranean countries. The thematic focus of the event is on "Improving the quality of teacher education", "teacher" being considered as school education (primary/secondary levels) and higher education.

The delegation is composed of representatives from ministries responsible for higher education and school education, representatives from universities involved in teachers' education, national Erasmus+ offices and embassies to the EU (located in Brussels). The objective is to provide a regional platform for policy dialogue on higher education, share good practice and experience among the participants, evaluate EU assistance, and identify further needs for support and to promote regional cooperation.

The dialogue event was launched back in 2012 by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC).
