Call for Proposals of ifa Research Programme "Culture and Foreign Policy"

Within the framework of ifa's Research Programme "Culture and Foreign Policy" experts examine current issues related to foreign cultural and educational policy.

The ifa is currently calling for proposals for the following research project:

Cultural relations with Latin America – on the trail of Humboldt

Alexander von Humboldt, born in 1769, is viewed as one of the pioneers of an enlightened, cosmopolitan knowledge culture and as a global networker and as a scientist who transcended boundaries despite his somewhat contradictory nature as a person. Due to his five-year research expedition to Latin America he is still of great significance for the international cultural relations between Germany and the countries of his expedition such as Mexico, Peru, Columbia and Cuba.

A thematic season in Latin America with measures in the culture and science sectors for which the Goethe Institute has the project lead on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office is planned to mark the occasion of his 250th birthday. Which projects and formats are suitable for which target groups? What are the challenges and risks associated with a Humboldt season in Latin America?
