16. Istanbul Biennial
Istanbul | 14.09.2019 – 10.11.2019
Exhibition | The 16th Istanbul Biennial, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored by Koç Holding, opens to the public on 14 September with the theme of The Seventh Continent. Curated by the eminent art historian, curator and scholar, Nicolas Bourriaud, the biennial brings together artworks by 56 artists from 25 countries, including 36 new commissions.
The 16th Istanbul Biennial will be presented in three spectacular locations: Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum, the 17,700 sq metres former warehouse called Antrepo 5 on the waterfront in the Tophane district, the Pera Museum in the heart of the city, and Büyükada Island, the largest of the Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara.
