Photo: www.berlinbabylon14.net The 4th AROUND THE WORLD IN 14 FILMS festival kicks off in Berlin this Friday. For the following eight days, film lovers will be able to enjoy 14 independent films from 14 regions around the world, as well as discussions with film directors and producers from South America to Africa, from Europe to Asia. Ifa, the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, is an official partner of the festival and has decided to award a prize to the film-maker who content-wise and aesthetically best deals with the themes of intercultural dialogue and/or cultural exchange. It will be known as the IFA – Intercultural Film Award. A special three-person jury has been selected to decide on the winner.
The 14 films to be screened at this year’s festival are from Argentina, Mexico, the USA, Canada, Africa, Spain, Romania, Greece, Russia, Armenia, Iran, Japan, the Philippines and Australia. Other, shorter films will also be screened before each main film and discussions with film-makers will follow each screening. The festival runs from November 27 – December 5 at the Babylon cinema in Berlin.
