Linie Line Linea. Contemporary Drawing

In short parallel pencil lines Pauline Kraneis draws a carpet pattern in its original size. Her model is a ghashgai rug from the south of Iran. Her precise reconstruction of the pattern can also be seen as an endless urban topography, with streets, crossroads and squares. Our perception alternates between far and near, overview and detail. The total view of a planned system is also perceived as the confusing fragment of a map of the world, offering neither security nor orientation.
