Linie Line Linea. Contemporary Drawing

Marcel van Eeden finds his pictorial material in magazines and books, all of which were published before the artist’s birth in 1965. Using his collection of chance events, places and people, and of textual, abstract and figurative motifs, Eeden (re)constructs a fictional and confusing past beyond his own life, an encyclopaedia that combats death and forgetting. His shining black charcoal pencil creates a dark world on the threshold to dissolution.
