Nora Schultz (born 1975 in Frankfurt) works with simple found building materials that she relates to one another in a fragile formal balance, as if they were part of an interminable production idea. She is interested in the question as to how actions can be articulated sculpturally and spatially without becoming frozen in finished form. She uses the metaphor of the machine to treat sculpture as both product and producer. "Discovery of the Primitive" (2011) is a kind of simple printing machine, a metal grid that can imprint itself and other material onto various media. The printed matter then becomes part of the artwork and can be produced over and over again in performance by the artist or in collaboration with other protagonists
