America’s standing in the world has suffered a severe setback in recent years, according to leading cultural commentators. The new U.S. President, Barack Obama, now has a chance to improve America’s image. The talk is of public diplomacy initiatives, cultural ambassadors, new international exchange programs, and more – in short, the USA is being urged to launch a cultural offensive.
