Courses Intensive courses Learn a good deal in a short period of time With 25 lessons per week, these courses are designed for participants who want to progress in German quickly and can spend a good deal of time pursuing this aim. The courses are equally appropriate as a preparation for tertiary study or vocational training in Germany, as well as for those preparing to begin a new job in Germany.
The courses comprise five different levels: A1/Elementary level I to C1/Intermediate level II. At C1/Intermediate Level II, participants have two options: a general German course or a German course for academic purposes which includes preparation for the TestDaF (German as a Foreign Language) and DSH (University entrance examination.) Evening courses These courses take place on two evenings a week, each evening comprises around 2½ hours of lessons. They are especially appropriate for people who work during the day or for those who want to learn German more slowly and steadily. Weekend courses Relaxed learning on the weekend These courses take place on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings and thereby allow for a more relaxed learning of German, outside the hectic pace of everyday life. Supplementary courses Ifa also offers courses focussing on a specific subject area, such as training in pronunciation, conversation, grammar, exercises in writing, German for the job etc. The courses range from intermediate level to advanced. They take place once a week, always on a Wednesday evening. Holiday courses In July and August we are offering a number of two-week-long Holiday Courses to allow one to learn the fundamentals of the German language quite quickly. As we are offering four different Basic Courses and one Medium Course you can register to progress through a number of different courses, one after the other, over a four, six or eight week period, if you wish. TestDaF Preparation This evening course is specifically aimed at preparation for the TestDaF examination (TestDaF = Test of German as a Foreign Language)
Examinations TestDaF The TestDaF is an examination for the academic professions and for those planning scientific research in Germany. It’s therefore suited to those who want to study in Germany and need proof of their knowledge of German. The TestDaF certificate is recognised by all German universities and higher education institutions. It is considered proof of language skills adequate for academic study. telc European Language Certificates The European Language Certificates, TELC, are based on the Common European Framework (CEF) and are therefore comparable all over Europe. This makes them internationally recognized certificates. In Germany, these standardized tests are becoming more widely recognized and accepted by public institutions and employers as well as by colleges and universities. Twice a year, ifa offers the following three examinations, and a preparation-day course for each: telc Zertifikat Deutsch (B1), telc Zertifikat Deutsch B2 and telc Zertifikat Deutsch C1
