Cindy Ng Sio Ieng The artist was born in 1966 in Macao. She lives and works in Taipei and Beijing since 2006. She studied etching in 1990 as a student of Mr. Bartolomeu des Santos, who was the former Head of Department of Printmaking in the Slade School of Fine Arts of London University. She visited the Research Office of Chinese Painting at the British Museum where she studied a rich collection of paintings, interpreting the moods of scholar-painters. Cindy Ng Sio Ieng deals with nature and landscape explicitly. She refers to ancient calligraphy in using Indian ink, but transfers it into another medium: in her video-works the flow of ink is literally pictured and alludes to landscape painting and to natural sceneries as well.
