Anas Al-Shaikh

Born in 1968 in Manama, Bahrain; lives there.

Similar to a computer game, the visitors can click themselves through the different levels of the animation, search for activated areas, stumble on concealed text elements and signs. In a playful way, one can delve into the complex subject of the ambiguous relation between the Islamic world and the West.

However, Anas Al-Shaikh also urges his home culture audience to reflect upon personal mistakes. But even if there were an individual responsibility that "freedom, multilateralism, justice and equality" have not been attained, that "Islam’s message and the essence of its principle of tolerance" has been misunderstood, and that "our distancing from the civilisation of others" is indeed maintained – even if all that may be the case, "we are not for sale".
