Born 1973 in Regensburg, Germany, Valentina Seidel graduated in 1999 from the Department of Photography at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. Since 2002 she lives and works in Berlin. Seidel uses a broad spectrum of photomedia, sometimes also including video and installations in her works. She often photographs people associated with the arts at places they identify themselves with, always including the persons portrayed in the creative process from the beginning. She focuses on the aspect of space and architecture, person and space being equally important to her.
