Shaun Gladwell
Shaun Gladwell was born in 1972 in Sydney. He has a BA of Fine Arts from the Sydney College of the Arts, the University of Sydney, and an MA from the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales. Shaun Gladwell is a digital artist, who skillfully combines past and present in a streetlike manner. In his video installations he takes elements such as skateboarding, break-dancing and BMX bike-riding, and combines them with past artistic genres, some landscapes appearing like paintings by British painter J.M.W. Turner. In art historical terms, Gladwell's embodiment of physical danger and aesthetic risk aligns him to artists, combining extreme sport and art. Gladwell has been exhibiting throughout Australia, the United States and Europe.
