Leah King-Smith

Leah King-Smith was born in 1957 in Gympie, Queensland, Australia. In 1986 she completed a BA of Fine Art in Photography at Victoria College, Melbourne. In her 1992 created series "Patterns of Connection" she overlaid nineteenth-century photographs of Aboriginal subjects with her own contemporary painted and photographed images of the Australian bush.  Through this juxtaposition of past and present, Leah King-Smith encourages her audience to rethink their conceptions of Aboriginality. She has exhibited her works in numerous venues in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and USA.
