Joël Andrianomearisoa 1977 born in Antananarivo lives and works in Antananarivo and in Paris For his collections, Joël Andrianomearisoa experiments with materials like wood, metal, stone and plastics, usually associated with the art of sculpture rather than fashion design. Unusual materials in pure black or white and clear geometric cuts make extravagant creations and are presented in the designer's shows which are more of a spectacular event than a classical défilée. Joël Andrianomearisoa entered the Fashion Academy of Antananarivo at the age of twelve. After finishing his schooling and studies at the Academy, he attended classes at the Institut Métiers Arts Plastiques in his hometown. In 1996, he was distinguished as 'Young Talent 96'. Since September 1998, he has been studying architecture at Paris University. First presentations of his fashion designs took place in 1995. His creative imagination prompted him to develop, in tight succession, a series of innovative and spectacular collections. Joël Andrianomearisoa designs costumes and scenery for theatre, film and television. In 2000 he staged performances at the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
