Sweden Foreign Cultural Policy

In Sweden the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture are responsible for cultural exchange with other countries.
The most important culture mediation institute is the Swedish Institute, which has been a government institution since 1998 (at first it was an association, and then a government-financed foundation). The government appoints the board of the institute. The Swedish Institute maintains contacts abroad primarily through embassies and consulates, through public and cultural institutions, and through institutions abroad (for example, universities). It does not have a worldwide network of branches, with one exception: the Institut Suédois in Paris.
