Poland Foreign Cultural Policy

In Poland the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture are responsible for foreign cultural policy.
In 2000, the Ministry of Culture (in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) established the "Adam Mickiewicz Institute". The mission of this government institution is the implementation of Polish foreign cultural policy and the coordination of a large part of the activities of Polish cultural institutions abroad. It does not have the authority to issue guidelines.
In addition, there are the Polish Institutes, which are subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from which they receive their financing. There are 18 of these Institutes in Europe, and to some extent their directors are at the same time both embassy counsellor and cultural attaché.
