Alfred Toepfer Foundation
The Alfred Toepfer Stiftung was established in 1931 by Alfred C. Toepfer, the Hamburg merchant and farmer. As a private, non-profit-making foundation the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung issues and implements its own projects and support programmes.
Core areas of the Foundation's work are:
- Europe: promoting European unification and supporting European integration, ensuring European cultural diversity, enhancing mutual understanding among the peoples of Europe
- culture, science and education: support of the humanities, literature, music, art, folk traditions, architecture and monument preservation
- nature conservation: development of protective activities and structures, agriculture and forestry, town and country planning, ecology
- youth work: grants/scholarships, camps, seminars, conferences, school excursions
