Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO)

Purpose/Activities

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization is an inter-Arabian agency of the Arab League constituting of 22 member states and maintaining branch offices in Egypt, Morocco, Sudan and Syria.

Its activities embrace:

  • development of human resources in the Arabic countries
  • modernisation and reconditioning of education, culture, science and communication
  • maintenance and support of the Arabic language and the Islamic culture inside and outside of the Arabic world
  • promotion of dialogue and cooperation between the Arabic-Islamic world and the other cultures

Since 2007 between the ALECSO and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation exists a skeleton agreement with the aim to enhance the education and instruction systems as well as to extand the relations between the European and the Arabic world.
