Culture Ireland – a division of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht – will support a special focus of Irish artistic activity in 2018 with "GB18: Promoting Irish Arts in Britain". The programme includes events across artistic disciplines in prestigious venues, institutions and festivals in Britain. A full programme of over 60 projects incorporating performances, tours, exhibitions and concerts covering all areas of England, Scotland and Wales will be announced over the coming weeks.

A highlight event that has already been made public is Imagining Ireland: 21st Century Song, which will be performed in both Dublin (3 February) and London (5 March). The concert brings together a new generation of largely independent artists in one evening alongside some of their inspirations and influences.

GB18: Promoting Irish Arts in Britain follows the successes of previous programme strands, including Imagine Ireland in 2011, Culture Connects across the EU in 2013, I Am Ireland as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.
