In January 2018, a three-year cultural initiative was started to create a closer relationship between Denmark and Germany. The Danish Cultural Institute, the Agency for Culture, the Danish Embassy and members of the Danish Cultural Ministry’s International Panel for Culture have initiated the project together with German cultural institutions and the German Foreign Ministry.

Plans call for an intensive cultural exchange based on close collaboration and dialogue. In the coming years, platforms will be created for Danish artists in Germany. Also, reciprocal cultural tourism will be established and fostered. In 2018 the focus is on the European perspective of the Danish–German cultural relationship. Joint projects are also planned in the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

The first event within the project took place on 8 January at the Museum for Art and Trade in Hamburg.
